My Story

FIV+

Ambrose is a 2 to 3 year old male tabby who is currently residing in our FIV+ Room at the adoption center.  He's shy at first but give him a few pets and he melts in your arms.  He would be thrilled to be your new best friend.  He was an outside cat whose feeder moved away so he came to our center in the hopes for a new life.  He's just not used to humans being loving and affectionate with him.  FIV+. Feline Immunodeficiency Virus positive cats can live normal lives both in quality and duration. They do take special care in terms of monitoring them for signs of infection.  FIV can be passed from cat to cat via deep bite wounds, but not from casual contact so positive cats can live with negative cats without the fear of spreading FIV as long as they get along and are spayed/neutered. For more information on FIV – check out this link:  http://bestfriends.org/resources/fiv-cats-faqs-feline-immunodeficiency-virus-information  He's neutered, microchipped, FL negative and up to date on vaccines.

**If interested in adopting him, please fill out an online adoption application at http://colonycats.org/adoption_app.html to expedite the process.  Due to the large number of inquiries received, we are unable to respond to emails quickly.**
