My Story

From their previous adopter: Kelsey and her sister Savannah (K & S) came to NJ in 2015 from Texas. They were adopted into our family which included 3 other dogs. Since K & S had never lived in a home before being rescued, it took them awhile to get used to things like stairs, furniture and TV’s.

Fast-forward 2 1/2 years. K & S have grown older, wiser, and have been wonderful additions to our family. The only problem has been a personality conflict between Kelsey and one of the older members of our family, Sugar, a little hound mix. It has now become obvious to us that Sugar and Kelsey are never going to get along. Since we would never consider separating K & S, we feel that the only solution is to place both of them with someone who will provide less stress in their lives and give them a more peaceful home.

Kelsey is a female Lab mix weighing about 75 pounds. She is a wonderful dog who is very loyal to her human family. She has a sweet personality and loves her sister Savannah very much. And with the exception of one of our other dogs, a hound mix named Sugar, she gets along with all of the other dog family members very well.

Kelsey is still somewhat shy and jumpy until she gets to know you but once that has occurred, she is the biggest lover in the world. She has never shown any aggression toward anyone, human or animal, except our dog, Sugar, and then only in a defensive mode. That includes anyone in the veterinarian’s office, family members living at home, family members visiting, or guests in our home.

Savannah is from the same litter as Kelsey – she weighs about 70 pounds. Savannah is one of the sweetest dogs I have ever had the pleasure of interacting with. She is not as skittish as Kelsey and has a generally calmer demeanor than her sister. However, she will shy away from anyone who moves a little too fast, or jumps unexpectedly, including my wife and I. I think it’s a holdover from her days growing up alone and in a country setting.

Because they are so dependent on each other emotionally, Kelsey and Savannah will only be adopted out together into the same home. If you think that these beautiful Lab mix girls would be a good addition to your family, please fill out an application & be sure to ask for KELSEY & SAVANNAH TEXAS – BONDED PAIR!
